Experienced + Travel-Ready Private Educator Needed For Cayman Islands/Miami Family

An adventurous and globally-minded family in the Cayman Islands is seeking an innovative and engaging private educator to join them in supporting their son’s education!

 

  • Location: Cayman Islands with frequent travel to Miami, Florida
  • Ages of children: 10 years old
  • Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the perfect fit!
  • Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 45 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Additional hours and/or flexibility with the schedule during the summer and travel seasons will be asked for in advance and appreciated.
  • Compensation: The family is offering $40-45/hour based on the 45-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $93-105k/year range dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid holidays, 3-4 weeks of paid time off annually in July, and one week during the December holiday season, a health insurance stipend, a matching 401k, a vehicle for professional use, and relocation assistance based on candidate need and the full benefits package.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live out while in the Cayman Islands. The family will provide a temporary landing pad for the perfect candidate and will help the candidate find housing locally. While in Miami (and any other potential travel), private accommodations will be provided.
  • Other Notes: This position will require living in the Cayman Islands. The family will coordinate necessary work permits and assist with relocation.

Household dynamic:

  • This dynamic and loving family is excited to welcome a private educator to support their middle son’s education! At 10 years old, their son has had a very positive experience with homeschooling and the family is ready to elevate his learning by finding a private educator with experience teaching and creating a stimulating, project-based curriculum to supplement their current program. His parents describe him as being a quiet and reserved boy who has a healthy imagination and a love of science and engineering. Their son has dyslexia and ADD, so a candidate who brings applicable experience teaching children with learning differences and a compassionate, supportive presence is key! The family also has a 12-year-old son who attends a boarding school in Miami and a 7-year-old son who attends an international school near their home in the Cayman Islands. Their youngest son is a high-energy, bright boy and the family hopes that this candidate will be able to provide after-school care for him.
  • These dual-career parents both work primarily from home and are in and out of the house regularly throughout the day. They travel frequently, spending one week per month in Miami and taking trips during school breaks! They are eager to have a candidate join them on their travels and provide consistency in learning for their son.

Ideal candidate: 

  • This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching through experiential or project-based learning. A candidate with experience supporting children with learning differences and who can help build their self-esteem around learning by bringing energy and engagement to each day will be valued. This family would love to work with an educator who has strong planning, organization, and communication skills and can develop a solid plan for each week and discuss it with the parents ahead of time.
  • Responsibilities include guiding the child through his homeschool curriculum and supplementing the curriculum with projects, experiments, and other hands-on learning opportunities! A candidate who can structure the daily learning schedule in a way that works for both the child and the teacher will thrive in this role. Additional responsibilities include picking up the youngest child from school and driving him to extracurricular activities, traveling with the family to Miami each month, engaging with and providing care for the younger son and the middle son after school, and providing nanny and/or family assisting support during the summer months when school is not in session.
  • While not a requirement for this position, the family would love to work with a candidate who possesses a Bachelor’s degree and/or speaks Spanish.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or homeschool setting
  • Valid driver’s license and passport
  • Knowledge and experience with elementary school-age children
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to the start date in accordance with applicable laws
