The family is open to offering year-round housing or a housing stipend for the perfect relocation applicant and may consider a candidate who would fly in and out for their work weeks. The family has a strong preference for an applicant with familiarity/ties to the Bay Area!
Household dynamic:
- This on-the-go household is seeking a loving nanny/ family assistant to keep their household running smoothly and be a caring, available role model to their teenagers as their beloved Adventure Nanny of 6 years moves on to their next chapter. Their 15-year-old son loves sports and video games and is learning to be more autonomous as he grows older. He has type 1 diabetes, so a candidate who can help guide and empower ownership over medical care, in addition to acting as a confident care provider when required, will be essential for this candidate (the family is happy to provide training!). Their 17-year-old is enjoying her independence as a new driver and loves to watch TV and movies in her spare time.
- The family regularly travels to their second home in Malibu and Europe during school breaks. At home and on their travels, they enjoy activities and adventure, from hiking, to skiing, to surfing! The family works with a warm, tight-knit household team, including a housekeeper, chef, and personal and executive assistants, so a candidate who is collaborative and supportive will fit right in with this family and team!
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a candidate who can go with the flow while working within a structured weekly framework designed to help this bustling household thrive. Someone who can be a contributing member to an organized environment, and who is above all a great role model and caregiver with a love for the teen years, will thrive in this role!
- Responsibilities include assisting with driving, researching and scheduling activities, supporting medical care and liaising with school nurses, grocery shopping, assisting with menu planning and coordinating with the family’s chef, occasional healthy meal prep, attending school meetings, and being a general beam of support to the family. A candidate who can be a gentle, accessible, assuring guide, and serve as the guardrails for these two teens will be key. Someone who brings experience in instilling independence and ensuring a structured-yet-warm household environment will thrive in this role for years to come.
- A candidate with a medical, educational, camp counselor, or therapeutic background would be a big plus for the family! Their current Adventure Nanny is a Wilderness First Responder which has been a great asset to this adventure-loving family at home and on their many travels.
- The family is hoping to meet an applicant who is open to a minimum of a 2-year commitment, assuming it continues to be a great fit, and has enjoyed the longevity and connection they have built with their past two Adventure Nannies!
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare or family assisting experience
- Valid driver’s license and passport
- Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
- Knowledge and experience with teens!
- Experience traveling with families
- Ability to confidently support and help manage their son’s medical needs (training happily provided) and be a responsible, level-headed, action-oriented team member at all times
This position is open to all Adventure Nannies candidates who are legally able to work in the US.
