Adventure-Ready, Inclusive + Creative Nanny Needed For International Family Based In Brooklyn

A nature-loving family of four based in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a nanny to join them in caring for their two children!

• Location: Brooklyn NY
• Ages of children: 8 and almost 6 years old
• Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
• Schedule: Guaranteeing 30 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Monday-Friday from 2pm-7pm. Flexibility for 1 date night/week, overnight care when the family travels without the children, and traveling with the family on occasion will be greatly appreciated!
• Compensation: The family is offering $35-45/hour based on the 30-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $50-65k/year range dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule.
• Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including a health insurance stipend and transportation reimbursement based on the candidate's need. The family intends to travel ≈8 weeks out of the year without childcare and is open to offering 2-4 weeks of paid time off in a year. The expectation would be that a candidate plans their vacations in tandem with the family’s time away.
• Live-in/Live-out: Live-out.

Household Dynamic:

• This tight-knit, curious NYC family describes their children as being two peas in a pod! Their youngest loves to read, build legos, take care of the family’s houseplants, and create imaginary worlds for his stuffed animals to inhabit. He is big on jokes, wordplay, nonfiction, and adores his older sibling. His two goals for the summer were to eat cake and run faster than his sibling, and his new year’s resolution was to learn more magic.
• Their eldest child is described by their parents as being outgoing, sociable, curious, independent, and perceptive. They love chess, math, graphic novels, board games, science, animals (especially dogs), and nature. They always have a backpack ready with “the essentials” (band-aids, snacks, pocket torches, crafts, an old piece of string) for spontaneous outdoor adventures. They miss their friends during the summer months, and always have the right words to make loved ones feel better.
• Both children attend a local French school during the day, and the family speaks English, French, and Bulgarian in their home. Both parents have flexible working schedules, and they love to travel to their house Upstate, travel domestically and internationally throughout the year, and get outside as much as possible!

Ideal candidate:

• This position is ideal for someone who is experienced with the early-mid elementary years, and brings a street-smart, creative, and outdoorsy nature to their role! A candidate who can jump right in and build rapport with two curious elementary-aged children will fit right into this family’s warm dynamic.
• Responsibilities for this role include keeping things tidy around the house including daily loading/unloading the dishwasher, children’s laundry, and putting away packages, children’s meal prep and grocery shopping, and being a supportive, affirming caregiver who can provide positive reinforcement and build kids’ independence and self-esteem.
• The family looks forward to working with a candidate who has an open mind when it comes to gender identity, and expression, and is able to be an ally for their non-binary children.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred
• Comfortability in preparing basic meals
• Family assisting experience
• Experience working with early to mid-elementary-aged children
• Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to starting date in accordance with applicable laws
• 3 years of professional childcare experience
