Summit Session #23 – Preserving The Magic Of Childhood Through Nature Wrap-Up

Summit Sessions is an ongoing educational series for nannies, educators, newborn care specialists, and other private service professionals who gather monthly for inspiring and cutting-edge experts and leaders in their fields, who will offer their expertise in the form of live, interactive sessions for attendees to take in, ask questions of, and learn from.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Reagan Fulton is the owner of Playful Acre, a nature preschool located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reagan uplifts and guides educators and parents to find their career-life happiness so that they can feel fulfilled at home, school, and work. She has almost 10 years of experience in the education and childcare field and has successfully started two companies which she runs from home full-time while raising her 4-year-old son. Reagan understands the importance of authentic self-expression and intentional leadership, especially when working with the most vulnerable populations in society: children and families. She uses her platform and influence to encourage educators and parents to create equitable access to diverse literature, expand experiential learning opportunities, and preserve the magic of childhood through nature play.

OUR TAKEAWAYS:

In this fantastic session, we learned all about the extraordinary impact of incorporating nature into your daily adventures with the children in your care. Reagan shared her background in alternative education and the wonderful and engaging ways in which nature play has benefited her and so many others through her organization, Playful Acre.

WHAT WE DISCUSSED:

In this session we talked about:

  • How to stop focusing on ‘wearing them out’ and start filling their sensory needs.
  • If you’re not learning alongside them, you’re doing it wrong.
  • When we allow children to explore freely in nature, learning opportunities present themselves in more effective ways than ones we could provide through instruction.
