Summit Session #1: Girls Who Code

Summit Sessions – Higher Education For Progressive Childcare Providers is an inclusive, worldwide group of nannies, educators, newborn care specialists and other private service professionals who gather monthly for inspiring and cutting-edge experts and leaders in their fields, who offer their expertise in the form of live, interactive sessions for members to take in, ask questions of, and learn from.

Because we believe every childcare professional should have access to new knowledge and resources, we have elected to make participation in the Summit Sessions absolutely free as our way of saying thank you to the tens of thousands of caregivers who have shown interest in Adventure Nannies and enthusiasm in bolstering their own knowledge.

We are proud to introduce our first Summit Sessions event featuring Briana Camp, a dynamic, highly experienced back-end developer who co-founded the first and only club for Girls Who Code in Walla Walla, Washington.

In this conversation, we will discuss the importance of tech-savviness and learning to code for the next generation, offer suggestions and resources for childcare providers to introduce coding into the daily lives of their charges with parental permission, and how to balance coding and tech-related education with screen time.

Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology. GWC works tirelessly through events, clubs, and in schools and immersion programs to build the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the United States. They offer opportunities for students and alumni to deepen computer science skills as well as personal confidence.

The Girls Who Code community provides a clear pathway for program alumni to join the computing workforce, and they build a supportive sisterhood of peers and role models who help students and alumni persist and succeed.
