Household dynamic:
- This fun and spontaneous family is excited to partner with a private educator who can support their children’s academics wherever their travels may take them. Their six-year-old daughter will start first grade in the fall, while their 4-year-old son will begin pre-k4. The parents are excited about the opportunity to provide learning opportunities for their children beyond the classroom! Both kids (and their parents) love animals and they have five dogs who are part of their family. In addition to a private educator, the family employs a full-time chef, an estate manager, nannies, housekeepers, and a security team, so experience working in a fully-staffed environment will be helpful!
- These dual-career parents travel frequently and are eager to work with a private educator who is excited to support the children’s academics, whether they’re on a yacht, exploring new places and cultures, or in a hotel room! They describe themselves as respectful and kind, and they prioritize having fun, quality time with their kids. Their travels take them to fun destinations all over the United States and internationally, sometimes for extended periods of time.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a patient and versatile educator who is excited to make the world their classroom! The family hopes to find a creative and engaging educator who will provide a hands-on, alternative learning experience alongside their children’s school curriculum. A candidate with travel experience, whether personal or professional, will be an asset in this role. An educator who can incorporate a variety of learning styles to meet their children where they are, encourage and motivate them, and inspire learning will be valued. When the family is not traveling, the children will attend their regular school. The educator will use this time to prepare for future lessons based on the travel itinerary when the children are at school.
- Responsibilities will include collaborating with parents to create a tailored curriculum supporting the children’s academic and independent growth, supplementing the provided curriculum with hands-on, inspiring learning experiences, ensuring educational milestones are met, and proactively researching and implementing activities and goals. A supportive teacher and well-rounded role model who encourages the children's growth will thrive in this role! The educator will travel with the family alongside other staff such as a nanny, driver, and security staff.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who plays piano (or another musical instrument), and/or speaks French, Italian, or Mandarin.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or homeschool setting
- Valid passport
- Valid driver’s license
- Comfortability caring for children in and around water
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in a child or education-related field
