Spirited, Organized Nanny/Family Assistant Needed For Boston Area Family

Closed
East Coast

A down-to-earth family based in the Boston area is seeking a nanny/family assistant to join them in caring for their household and two children!

  • Location: Chestnut Hill, MA
  • Ages of children: 5.5 and 3.5 years old
  • Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
  • Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week. Candidates can anticipate working 8 hours per day Monday through Friday, with the exact schedule to be determined mutually.
  • Compensation: The family is offering $40-45/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $83-94k/year dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family is happy to offer significant overtime for candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package.
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, and potentially a housing stipend and relocation assistance, for those who would have to relocate for this role.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Strong preference for live-out. The family does have a private separate living arrangement and may be open to providing a temporary landing pad for the right candidate!

Household dynamic:

  • This return Adventure Nannies family is based in the spacious, green Chestnut Hill neighborhood just outside of Boston, where they enjoy easy access both to nature and to urban cultural activities and shopping and restaurants etc. Their children are both in an outdoor preschool together Mon-Fri (until 4pm three days/week, until 12pm the other two days). The family deeply values an environment that fosters independence, resilience, self-confidence, and respect for firm boundaries (while still making their children feel effusively warmly loved!).
  • The family typically spends a significant portion of their summers in the Hamptons (NY), and they travel around traditional school breaks to spend time with extended family in destinations like Costa Rica, Aspen, Miami, Maine, and the Bay Area. The family is open to discussing travel requirements for the role, but some flexibility to join them at least sometimes will be important. Both parents work from home, and they look forward to creating a balance of tag-teaming and providing space and autonomy for their nanny to thrive when providing sole care. They are excited to welcome a collaborative partner in their nanny to provide an enriching, fun-filled, educational environment for their children.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone who is intuitive, organized, self-starting, communicative, and well-versed in the preschool and early elementary years! The ideal candidate will have experience and confidence in working with children in the 3-5 year age range. The family is seeking a true partner in raising their children and caring for their household with a great deal of fun-loving energy, and they look forward to working with someone who can be a consistent presence in their lives. Someone who enjoys creating magic in the day-to-day, from involving the kids in cooking family dinners to holiday decorating, will be valued!
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive in (one that is screen-free during weekdays), cooking simple M-F dinners with and for the children, child-related household tasks including but not limited to tidying/organizing of children’s areas and management of belongings, before- and after-school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year as needed. Family assisting duties include but are not limited to meal planning and simple daily food prep, occasional grocery shopping or other errands, coordinating household vendors, and helping with managing the household overall. (A separate housekeeper takes the lead on laundry, cleaning, and shopping and other errands.)
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish and would be excited to model and share the language with the kids through conversation, song, and everyday activities!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with pre-school and early elementary-age children
  • Valid driver’s license. Experience driving children is a must, and winter/snow driving experience is strongly preferred!
  • Comfortable preparing basic meals for the whole family
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to the start date in accordance with applicable laws

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Spanish language knowledge
