NYC

A creative, well-traveled family is seeking a rotational nanny to join them in caring for their 7-year-old in NYC, Michigan, Montana, and beyond!

  • Location: The family splits time between NYC, Michigan, Montana, and other destinations.
  • Ages of children: 7 years old
  • Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
  • Schedule: Rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/3 weeks off with 24-hour on-call availability expected during working weeks. Typical working hours to fall between 9am-9pm, with breaks frequently offered during the day. Flexibility for evenings and travel during the rotation will be key for the right candidate!
  • Compensation: The family is offering an hourly and overtime rate equivalent to an annualized base compensation of $100k/year dependent on candidate experience. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, and relocation assistance based on candidate need and the full benefits package. They are excited to offer additional benefits and perks to the ideal candidate!
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-in while on duty. A private bedroom and bathroom will be provided in all locations, and some locations may offer use of a separate space or vacation rental.
  • Other Notes: The family is open to working with candidates who would like to fly in and out for their rotation.

Household dynamic:

  • This low-key, social family is eager to find their next rotational nanny! At 7 years old, their child is gregarious and sweet, loves meeting new people, and is described by his parents as being quite smart. He attends school when in NYC during the fall, and follows a Montessori-based homeschool curriculum as the family travels throughout the year which the nanny will support staying on track with during their rotation. The family also has a small dog who joins in on many of their adventures!
  • The family and household team have many moving parts, as they spend time throughout the year in quite a few different locations including Michigan, Montana, The Caribbean, and Europe. Both parents are in and out of the home regularly, and enjoy tag-teaming with their nanny. Someone who is travel-ready and well-versed in supporting families on the go will thrive! The parents also have three older children who live outside of the house and may visit over summer and/or school breaks, though will not require care from the nanny. Having worked with nannies, chefs, housekeepers, and other executive staff over the years, the family is glad to have made some life-long, extended family relationships with past caregivers and employees.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone who first and foremost loves kids and is excited to engage with a 7-year-old! A candidate who brings a willingness to pitch in around the house and sees themselves as a teammate to parents and other staff will be key. The family enjoys partnering with candidates who bring patience and a calm yet confident, self-starter attitude to the role, as well as an excitement to travel frequently throughout the year. Someone who understands boundaries and is comfortable implementing them will be key!
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child(ren) to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, and errands, before and after school routines, and traveling with the family throughout the year. The nanny will be responsible for ensuring schoolwork is completed each morning. Family assisting duties include pitching in with simple errands, light tidying, and pet care as needed.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would welcome a candidate who brings a second language to share in the role (their son is currently learning Spanish), a Bachelor's degree in an education-related field, or who shares a love for the outdoors and snow sports. These are all pluses as they are truly looking for the right fit who wants to join their team, hopefully for years to come!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to starting date in accordance with applicable laws
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones
  • Experience traveling with families and children
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred
  • Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
  • Dog friendly! Willing to support light pet care.
