Professional, Supportive Newborn Care Specialist Needed In Columbia, MO

A single-parent by-choice family in Columbia, MO, is seeking an NCS to join them as they welcome their first child this July!

 

  • Location: Columbia, MO
  • Ages of children: Baby is due in early July 2024!
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks, beginning July 1, 2024
  • Schedule: 4 weeks of 24/7 care and 8 weeks of 7-day/week 12-hour care.
  • Compensation: The family is offering a rate of $30-35/hour for 24-hour and 12-hour care, which equates to a gross base compensation of $42-47k dependent on candidate experience.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Flexible to live-in or live-out. If live-in, a private bedroom and bathroom on a separate level of the family’s home will be provided and a space in the baby’s nursery will be available for overnight shifts.

  • This organized, calm, positive single mom by choice is looking forward to welcoming her first child this July! Based in the awesome college town of Columbia, Missouri, she lives near parks and trails and enjoys the local arts scene.
  • As she embarks on the journey of parenthood, she is looking forward to working with a newborn care specialist who can provide support for the first 12 weeks of baby’s life. Though she will be on maternity leave for the first months, she may need to engage professionally from time to time. Mom is looking forward to working with a candidate who can help with overnight care and transition into daytime care after a few weeks. Someone must be comfortable working in a home with cats, as there are two in this home!

Ideal candidate: 

  • This position is ideal for someone who is an open-minded, professional, and organized team player! A candidate who can gently offer their experience and expertise will be valued. Mom is looking forward to partnering with someone who brings a calm, grounded energy to each day. A candidate who is naturally organized and can ensure baby’s supplies and the household in general stays organized will be appreciated.
  • Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks including prepping and sanitizing bottles, baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on deck, collaborative attitude to each day.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
  • Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
  • Knowledge of every aspect of newborn care, including professional and working knowledge of feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning and sanitizing bottles
  • Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
  • Experience working as a live-in nanny, or living with a family during off hours for an extended NCS contract
  • Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
