An active and creative family on Long Island is seeking an organized and adaptable long-term family assistant/nanny to join them in caring for their two elementary-age children!

  • Location: Port Washington, NY
  • Ages of children: 7.5 and 5 years old
  • Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the perfect fit!
  • Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40-44 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Monday through Friday. Candidates can anticipate a weekly schedule of 12-8pm two days per week, 12-10pm two days per week (typically Tuesday and Thursday), and Fridays from 9am-1pm which will be dedicated to family assisting responsibilities. The family is happy to provide additional hours for someone who can jump in with morning routines, date night coverage, occasional weekend support, travel, and 24/7 care when parents are traveling solo (typically once every two months) with advanced notice. A candidate who is open to having flexibility in their schedule will be appreciated!
  • Compensation: The family is offering $40/hour based on the 40-44 hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $83-91k/year dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, a vehicle for professional use, and relocation assistance based on candidate need and the full benefits package.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. The family will provide a private and separate cottage on their property that includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, a recently renovated full kitchen, and laundry.

Household dynamic:

  • This caring and community-oriented family recently relocated to Long Island from Manhattan and they are very excited about this big life change! Although this transition has meant saying goodbye to their long-time nanny of 7.5 years, they look forward to establishing another strong connection with their next nanny/family assistant. They describe themselves as an extremely loving and close-knit family who values community, kindness, and education. At 7.5 and 5 years old, their two sons are very active and enjoy playing catch, conducting science experiments, playing games of chess, building Lego, crafting, and so much more!
  • These dual-career parents have busy and sometimes unpredictable schedules and are in and out of the house on a regular basis each day. They are eager to work with a nanny who can provide consistent and loving care for the boys and proactive task management for family assisting. Someone who is collaborative and comfortable partnering with parents will be key. Travel is not a large part of this role, but if a candidate is eager to join the family on an annual vacation, they are open to it!

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone who is kind, calm, fun-loving, proactive, and collaborative! Someone who is a flexible self-starter, excited to support the family and household as a whole, and interested in engaging the children’s curiosity and imagination will thrive in this role. It is important that the candidate is an experienced driver who is comfortable driving the boys to various activities and who is comfortable driving in the snow during the winter months. The candidate will be asked to drive the boys locally, not to or within Manhattan.
  • Candidates can anticipate supporting family assistant tasks while the children are in school and then shift to a childcare-focused nanny role when the children are home.
    • Childcare responsibilities include creating a safe and loving environment for the children to grow and thrive! This includes but is not limited to, planning enriching activities, engaging in active play, supporting daily schedules and routines, collaborating with the parents, meal prep and cooking for the family, driving the children to and from school or activities, and child-related household tidying and laundry.
    • Family assisting duties include calendar coordination, managing and scheduling the children’s activities, transportation logistics of getting the children to their activities, running errands, meal planning, stocking the pantry, grocery shopping, personal assistant tasks, overseeing home maintenance/repairs, light organization, and inventory management. A candidate who possesses a strong family assisting skill set and is open to simple, full family meal prep one or two nights a week will thrive in this role for years to come!
  • While not a requirement for this role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish and/or who has proven longevity in previous roles!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to support family assisting and house management duties
  • Knowledge and experience with early elementary and elementary school-age children
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to the start date in accordance with applicable laws
