Household dynamic:
- This private and cheerful Chicago-based family is seeking a friendly and easygoing nanny/family assistant to join them in caring for their only child. The family has a sweet and artistic 12-year-old girl who loves to ride horses, run around with her dogs, and play Pokémon. She has ADHD and thrives with patience, structure, and consistency. They are excited to meet someone confident and passionate about providing her with nurturing and holistic care. They also have two friendly dogs. A candidate who is comfortable around pets is important.
- This is a single-parent household, but both parents actively co-parent their child. One parent lives about 30 minutes away, and they are all very friendly, and they even go on vacation together. There is no set schedule between houses. Mom loves taking a hands-on approach, with weekends centered on supporting their child’s passion for horseback riding. Someone comfortable working alongside Mom and open to family assisting will be essential. Mom also occasionally travels for work; during those times, the candidate will take charge of maintaining the child’s daily routine and ensuring a clean and organized home. The family also employs a household cleaner three times a week.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for someone who can nurture her growth and be a positive influence on the child. A candidate who understands and can support the dynamic of children with ADHD will be valued. The family is excited to work with someone reliable who can take the lead and support the family and the household. This role includes very little travel, but the candidate can anticipate providing 24/7 care when the parent is away from home and occasionally traveling with the child to visit one of the parents when they are away for work.
- Childcare and family assisting responsibilities include but not limited to meal prep, tidying general areas, organizing of children’s areas, running errands, before and after school routines, light pet care, coordinating activities, scheduling general vehicle maintenance, picking up dry cleaning, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish or has experience working with children with ADHD, particularly in helping them manage their medication.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with pre-teen children
- Valid driver’s license
- Comfortable driving in/around the Chicago area
- Able to live in and provide extended overnight care when mom is traveling
- Pet friendly!
