Dynamic Rotational Educator/Nanny Needed for Bi-Costal NYC/LA Family

This creative and loving family based in LA and NY is transitioning to homeschooling/world schooling for their neurodivergent son and seeking an engaging, dynamic, and collaborative private educator/nanny to join the team!

  • Location: Los Angeles, California and New York, New York
  • Ages of children: 9 years old
  • Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
  • Schedule: Full-time, rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off. Candidates can anticipate providing 24/7 coverage while on duty. Flexibility for travel during the rotation will be key for the right candidate!
  • Compensation: The family is offering an hourly and overtime rate equivalent to an annualized base compensation of $130k-160k/year dependent on candidate experience. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k, and a vehicle for professional use.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-in while on rotation

Household dynamic:

  • This warm and loving family, based in both LA and NY, is seeking an experienced and creative private educator/nanny to travel and support their 8-year-old son. The family is joyful, loving, and emphasizes gratitude and closeness. They describe their son as intelligent beyond his years, hilarious, and creative. He is passionate about performing arts and storytelling, whether writing comic books, scripting, shooting and editing movies, playing drums, writing songs, or engaging in imaginative play. The family also has two dogs, so it’s important that the candidate is pet-friendly.
  • Academically, their son thrives with a project-based learning style. The family is excited to meet a skilled educator with expertise in project-based learning and/or world schooling. Someone who can nurture a loving and learning-oriented environment for their neurodivergent child will be key.
  • This is a dual-career household where both parents work from home and travel a lot with busy and dynamic schedules. The family splits their time between their two residences in Los Angeles and New York and frequently travels to other parts of the US, Europe, and Mexico. A candidate who is travel-ready and comfortable adapting curriculum and educational experiences and providing holistic care to children while traveling will be a great fit! The family fosters a collaborative atmosphere with their household staff, which includes a personal assistant, two housekeepers, and a behavioral therapist. Someone who works well with others and seamlessly integrates into their dynamic household will be essential!

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a highly organized and collaborative candidate who excels at building an engaging curriculum, blending education with fun, and fostering connections with homeschooling communities. The ideal candidate will bring experience and a passion for working with neurodivergent children and be skilled at providing structure and clear boundaries with kindness and respect. Creating engaging, playful learning experiences while supporting emotional and social development will be essential. The family seeks someone who thrives on organizing educational outings, supporting playdates, and integrating these enriching experiences into the child’s curriculum. A background in in-home education, especially with a Project-based or Mastery-based learning approach, is highly valued. Additionally, a deep understanding of consent and a strong commitment to body safety rules will be critical in this role.
  • Responsibilities include both private educator and childcare tasks. Educator responsibilities include designing and implementing a tailored-fit curriculum incorporating project-based or mastery-based learning techniques while collaborating with the parents, the child’s behavioral specialist, and other homeschooling communities. The educator will provide a comprehensive in-home education that facilitates interactive and playful learning activities that foster the child’s curiosity and social and emotional growth and development. While traveling, the candidate will be responsible for curating playdates, and leading educational excursions related to the curriculum. Childcare responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work for a candidate with fluency in Spanish or other languages.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or in-home setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a child or education-related field
  • Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
  • Familiarity with a specific educational philosophy
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting neurodivergent children
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Experience traveling with families and children
  • Pet friendly!
