This warm, cheerful CA-based family is seeking a Newborn Care Specialist to join them in caring for their newborn due in May 2025!
- Location: Truckee, California. Flexibility to travel between residences in Marin County and Truckee during the contract will be appreciated.
- Ages of children: Baby due in May 2025! The family also has a 3.5-year-old.
- Contract dates: Beginning late April/early May 2025 for a 3-month contract
- Schedule: 12 weeks of 7-day/week 12-hour overnight care
- Compensation: The family is offering an hourly rate of $35-45+/hour, which equates to a projected contract compensation of $44-57k depending on the candidate's experience and the agreed-upon schedule and contract length. The family may be open to candidates seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: The family is open to providing paid sick leave, a meal/grocery stipend, and relocation assistance.
- Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. A private bedroom and bathroom within the family's home or over their garage will be provided depending on location.

They are seeking a newborn care specialist who can provide exceptional care for the first few months of their baby’s life. Their 3.5-year-old active preschooler is thrilled to become a big brother and will enjoy spending time with Dad while they are adjusting. They also have a nine-year-old dog who is a big part of their family. A candidate who is comfortable with large dogs will be appreciated!
- Both parents work in creative fields, with their attention centered around their family at the moment. The family fosters a warm and welcoming energy in their home and will be supported by two sets of loving grandparents during the day for the first weeks after the baby’s arrival. They would love someone who can be a dedicated care partner and an extension of their family.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a well-rounded, caring, and compassionate NCS confident in providing expert infant care and supporting the family! The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable newborn care specialist with experience in providing comprehensive care and guidance during their newborn's early months, including providing overnight care, managing feeding schedules, and understanding the baby’s developmental needs and milestones. Someone with a gentle, proactive approach to childcare and who is attuned to the needs of newborns will be a great fit! They are excited to work with a candidate who brings a warm, nurturing, and collaborative energy to the baby and the family.
- Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks including prepping and sanitizing bottles, baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day.
- While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate experienced in managing infants with acid reflux.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
- Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
- Knowledge of every aspect of newborn care, including professional and working knowledge of feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning and sanitizing bottles
- Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
- Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
- Valid passport
- Valid driver’s license
- Pet-friendly!
