Household dynamic:

  • This family is seeking a dedicated and experienced nanny to join them in caring for their newest addition, who is absolutely sweet and easy-going! The family is international, speaks English, French, and Bulgarian at home, has called NYC their home for twenty years, and typically travels outside the US multiple times a year. The two older siblings are outgoing, sociable, curious, funny, and perceptive. They love reading, graphic novels, board games (including Dungeons & Dragons), science, animals, and nature. The older one always has a backpack ready with “the essentials” for spontaneous outdoor adventures, the younger sibling usually has a riddle or a joke at the ready, and they are doting and adorable with the baby! They attend an international school in Manhattan during the day and are supported by another nanny after school.
  • This nanny will primarily focus on caring for the baby and the household, and when needed will pivot to assist with the older children, particularly during after-school hours or when both parents are traveling. The family is excited to welcome a dynamic, self-starter, and hands-on candidate who can create a nurturing and supportive environment for all of their children.
  • Both parents are currently on parental leave, actively involved in their children’s lives, and plan to return to their regular work schedule over the coming months. The family loves spending time together, traveling mostly internationally throughout the year, including four to five weeks of their summer spent in Europe and one to three weeks during other school holidays. The nanny is not generally expected to travel with the family and will be offered paid time off during most of these weeks.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone dynamic, reliable, and engaged who is experienced in caring for infants as well as energetic mid-elementary-aged children. Someone who genuinely enjoys fostering children’s growth and development through interactive and age-appropriate activities will be a perfect fit! The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to the baby’s care, integrating outings and activities, taking it upon themselves to plan ahead, staying active throughout the day. A punctual, dependable candidate who follows through on commitments, takes the initiative, and has good judgment is essential for this position.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, and coordinating activities.
  • While not a strict requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks fluent French or Bulgarian.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and elementary-aged-children
  • Has lived in New York for at least one year and is familiar with the city.
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 and flu prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
