Educationally-Minded Nanny Needed for Fun-Loving Orlando Family

Nationwide

A playful and welcoming family of four is seeking an energetic and engaged nanny to join their family!

  • Location: Orlando, Florida
  • Ages of children: 5 and 1.5 years old. The candidate’s primary role will be supporting the family’s 1.5-year-old.
  • Start date: As soon as they find the perfect fit.
  • Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 50 hours per week with a consistent schedule of Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm. (Additional hours available if desired). The family would also appreciate a candidate who is open to accommodating occasional early morning or overnight support with advanced notice.
  • Compensation: The family is offering $35-45/hour based on the 50-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation in the $91-129k/year range. The family may be open to a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: The family will provide 3 weeks of paid time off, paid holidays, paid sick days, a health insurance stipend, an annual Disney pass, opportunities for professional development, a gym membership, and relocation assistance for the right candidate. A car will be provided for professional use.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Flexible to live-in or live-out. For live-in candidates, a private bedroom and bathroom in the family’s home will be provided.

Household dynamic:

  • This fun-loving, adventurous family of four is led by dual-career parents who are both surgeons. The family vibe is welcoming and casual, and they prioritize spending quality time together and having fun. They enjoy getting outdoors and playing games in the cul-de-sac with neighbors and family, hosting spontaneous dinner parties, jumping into creative projects, and attending local events. Disney is right around the corner, and they visit often! Their son, who is one and a half, is full of energy and personality. He is described as charming, inquisitive, loving, and bright. He is undergoing evaluation for autism and will be starting in-home therapy. The candidate’s role will primarily focus on accompanying him throughout the day, facilitating his daily routine, providing him with enrichment, and collaborating with parents and therapists. The parents expect the candidate to learn and apply the strategies from therapy to support his development and well-being. The parents will also depend on the candidate to teach them the learned strategies for consistency in the entire household. Their 5-year-old daughter is described as spirited and playful. She is smart and energetic and can’t wait to start kindergarten this fall. She thrives on discovery and will benefit from ongoing enrichment opportunities (which the family hopes the nanny will be able to help facilitate).
  • The family is supported by a housekeeper three times per week and a chef who prepares meals in advance. Laundry service is provided. They are also hiring an afternoon caregiver to pick up their daughter from school and take over care of both children at 5 pm if the parents are not home yet. Their nearby family provides frequent support as well. As travel enthusiasts, the family loves impromptu beach adventures and exciting weekend getaways. They typically enjoy several week-long trips per year with at least one international and look forward to sharing these experiences with a candidate who will be excited to join them.

Ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will be an open and direct communicator who is looking for their next long-term role. A candidate capable of supporting a busy household will thrive in this role. The family values education and enrichment and is eager to work with someone who shares their enthusiasm for play-based and child-led learning. They want their children to learn by independently exploring and discovering the world around them. They invite the children to take some risks and learn by doing, and they expect the children to contribute to the household in ways that suit their developmental stage. For example, a candidate who will encourage the children to practice using the stove or knife skills (with supervision), or clean up after themselves will be appreciated. The family prefers a respectful and positive discipline approach with firm boundaries and no screen time. A proactive and organized candidate who will take the initiative to implement new systems or routines, offer ideas and suggestions, and make enhancements to the household will be valued.
  • Childcare responsibilities include morning routines for both children, care for the 1.5-year-old as described above, and occasional daytime care for both children. Additionally, researching and planning activities and enrichment opportunities for both children and creating prepared environments that foster daily learning, growth, and independence will be appreciated. Household management tasks include coordinating activities and appointments, managing the family calendar, organizing and rotating toys, and packing and unpacking children for travel.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate with a background or experience supporting children with autism, knowledge of Montessori or Waldorf methods, a bachelor’s degree, or second language proficiency.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Valid driver’s license and passport
  • Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
  • Non-smoker
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
